White also tastes different from green. While green has been described as tasting "green" or something like grass or hay, white does not share that characteristic. Instead, white has a rather sweet taste, and a very pale color after it has been brewed.

Both of these varieties are absolutely delicious when they are brewed and then made into iced tea. Some people prefer iced tea to hot brews, and preparing green or white to be served cold could be a way to get those who might not ever drink these varieties to try them and discover how great they are. Plus, if the tea drinkers are friends or family, the health benefits of green and white tea are worth pointing out as they sip on this thirst quenching beverage!

Don't try to keep the pitcher any longer than a couple of days. If you do, the drink will probably turn bitter and be undrinkable. Instead, just make up another pitcher, and enjoy your healthy green or white iced tea!

If you want to sweeten your green or white iced brew, now is the time. You can use either white sugar or honey, whichever one you prefer. First, place the pitcher in the refrigerator to allow it to cool. You don't want to pour it over ice yet, as it would melt the ice too quickly and weaken the brew.

Green and white teas are going to kind of grow on you once you try them iced! So, instead of brewing up just a glass at a time, why not prepare an entire pitcher, and keep it in the refrigerator? Make sure that you use a quality green or white whole leaf base.

Making iced tea for yourself or your family and friends is a gift of love. Tea has so many health benefits, especially green and the newest trend in drinking, white tea. Both of these are full of antioxidants, which contribute to your health in many ways. But white has come to the attention of many health conscious people, because it has been proven to have less caffeine and even more antioxidants than green.

Instead, heat the water until it is hot, with perhaps a bit of steam escaping, and use this to brew your iced tea. Have your loose green or white whole leaves (and 8 teaspoons for a full pitcher of tea) waiting in the bottom of a heat-proof pitcher. You may want to use a large ball instead to save yourself the time it takes to strain the mixture with a strainer. You can just lift the ball out when the tea is strong enough!

China has known about the benefits of white tea for a very long time, but only recently have very many people who live outside of Asia known anything about the young and delicate white variety. What is the difference in white and green? It's all in how the two are processed! Green has been processed more than white. White is not dried by exposure to the air, but steamed instead.

Your can purchase both green and white pre-mixed and chilled but have you ever read the labels on some of these mixtures? You are much better off making your own green and white at home, and you will be much healthier without all of the added sweeteners and chemicals that corporate America is adding to the simple goodness of green and white tea.

Whenever tea is left very much like it was when it was growing, it is only natural for it to have more components for good health than other varieties which have been processed longer, such as black tea. Scientific studies have proven that white has more of the antioxidants that prevent and kill off cancer cells.

When the water is hot, pour it over the leaves, and allow it to steep no longer than three minutes. You may want to experiment with the steeping time. Two minutes may be long enough to suit your taste. Remove the ball, or alternately, strain the mixture.

Iced Green and White Teas

It's not at all difficult to make your own tea at home! And, if anyone tells you that you are only supposed to drink green hot and from a cup, remind them of the chilled bottled green mixtures that we mentioned above!
